Ski camp at Hatcher Pass
Last weekend, the nordic ski team did a weekend-long ski camp at Hatcher Pass. This was a great opportunity to get out of town, and to take advantage of groomed trails because of the better snow conditions there. We also did a time trail on Saturday; the women did about 5.5 km while the men raced about 11.5 km. Michael Schallinger was the fastest UAA guy and Laura Rombach won the women's time trial.

Moose encounters & the end of volume week!
Wow,...last Sunday our athletes finished their volume block that included two weekends (each consisted of 5 workouts) of 11-13 hours of training! This was physically and mentally challenging. As the pictures show below, skiers also were challenged by moose who didn't want to get off the trail...
Since Monday we have been doing a reduced training's volume that includes alternative training sessions such as climbing at the rock gym, and of course, skiing.
